Provenance. Prénom dérivé de Benoît. Vient de "bénédictus", signifie : "béni" Se fête le 11 juillet.
Histoire. Né vers 480 en Italie, Saint Benoît consacre sa vie à Dieu et se retire du monde en s'installant inconfortablement dans une grotte, où il mène une vie de prière et de solitude. Rejoint par des disciples, il fonde une grande abbaye avec des règles de vie très strictes. Ces moines ne sont autres que les bénédictins. Il meurt en 547 et ses reliques se trouvent à Saint Benoît sur Loire.
Caractère. De nature volontaire, autoritaires, ils savent ce qu'ils veulent et se font respecter. Extravertis, ils ont le sens des contacts et de la diplomatie. Optimistes, bons vivants, ce sont des meneurs d'hommes. Intelligents, souples d'esprit, ils s'adaptent à toutes les situations et ont de la répartie. Fidèles à leurs principes, ils sont d'une moralité irréprochable.
