Provenance. Diminutif de Daniel. Vient de l'hébreu "dân et el" Signifie "juge et Dieu" Se fête le 11 décembre.
Histoire. Né en 409 en Syrie, Daniel se fait moine et adopte le genre de vie des Stylites (de stulos : colonne), des fous de Dieu reclus volontairement sur le haut d'une colonne, exposés à toutes les intempéries. De grands personnages viennent le consulter en grimpant à l'échelle. II meurt à son poste en 493 à l'âge de 84 ans, après être resté 33 ans sur sa colonne, sans jamais en descendre.
Caractère. Leur force d'inertie est impressionnante, il est difficile de les mettre en colère. D'un naturel calme, réfléchis, ils sont d'une honnêteté scrupuleuse. Intelligents, imaginatifs, créatifs, ils sont quelquefois loin des réalités. Leur gentillesse, leur disponibilité en font des personnages attachants. Travailleurs consciencieux, voire maniaques, ils sont perspicaces dans ce qu'ils entreprennent.
