Provenance. Variante de Gurvan. Vient du gallois "gur", préfixe augmentatif" et de c'hoant, qui signifie: "désir, passion" Se fête le 3 mai.
Histoire. Les "Gurvan" sont fêtés avec les " Gurval". Saint Gurval est disciple de saint Brendon, en Irlande, à la fin du VIème siècle. Il s'en va évangéliser les païens de l'Armorique et succède probablement à saint Malo, siège épiscopal de la ville d'Aleth (aujourd'hui St Malo) en 635. -Gurvan est un nom romanesque, héros de la pièce de Tanguy Malmanche en 1923 : " Gurvan, marc'hek estranjour".
Caractère. Diplomates, intelligents, tolérants, ils se donnent entièrement pour des causes justes. Actifs et volontaires, ils ne supportent pas l'oisiveté. Hommes de conviction, ils font preuve d'une détermination inébranlable. Esprits équilibrés, optimistes, curieux, on ne s'ennuie pas à leur contact. Ce sont des hommes qui s'épanouissent sur le terrain.
