Provenance. Prénom dérivé de Catherine. Vient du grec "kataros", signifie : "pur" Se fête le 25 novembre ou le 29 avril.
Histoire. Jeune chrétienne d'Alexandrie, en Egypte, Catherine est condamnée pour sa foi, vers 310. Elle est torturée et décapitée. Sainte Catherine est la patronne des philosophes et des enseignants en raison de son érudition et son éloquence devant les juges. Le 29 avril on fête Catherine de Sienne qui vécut en Italie, au XIVème siècle. Elle ramena le Pape d'Avignon à Rome et réforma l'Eglise. C'est la première femme à avoir été déclarée Docteur de l'Eglise.
Caractère. L'humilité n'est pas leur qualité première. Intelligentes, d'une moralité à toute épreuve, elles ont conscience de leur valeur. Très émotives, elles sont souvent nerveuses et "piquent" aussi de belles colères. Actives, sûres d'elles, sérieuses, elles sont obstinées et ne baissent pas les bras facilement. Elles ont souvent de la chance.
