Provenance. Prénom d'origine hébraïque. Signifie: "comblé de biens" Se fête le 3 juillet.
Histoire. Ruth perd son premier mari et suit Noémi, sa belle mère, à Béthléem où elle épouse Booz, un proche parent qui a, sur elle, droit de rachat. Elle donne naissance à Obed qui sera le grand-père du roi David. Le livre de la Bible qui porte son nom exalte la piété de Ruth et donne en exemple l'étrangère qui a su s'intégrer dans le peuple élu.
Caractère. Sûres d'elles, de forte personnalité et de caractère pas très facile, elles imposent leur autorité naturelle à leur entourage. Discrètes, plutôt effacées mais efficaces, très actives, elles sont surtout généreuses, dévouées et toujours prêtes à rendre service. Fières, susceptibles et exigeantes, elles ne se laissent pas faire. Elles donnent priorité à la vie de famille et sont possessives par amour et par protection.
